Massmart’s wholesale division, including Jumbo, Browns & Weirs, and participating Cash & Carry stores, is gearing up to deliver deep mid-year savings through its upcoming annual Halfway Day promotion which launches on 27 June 2025. The wholesale division is tailored to serve the needs of community-based traders, spaza shop owners, tavern operators, and bulk-buying businesses across South Africa.
Andrew Stein, Marketing Vice President for Massmart says, “We launched the Halfway Day promotion at Game, which is also owned by Massmart, four years ago after identifying a cohort of customers who were actively shopping for mid-year deals on electronics and hard goods like appliances. We soon found that customer interest for deep mid-year price cuts extended beyond electronics and hard goods to include everyday essentials, which now comprise a big part of the event.”
“Our Cash & Carry customers—many of whom run township-based spaza shops and local taverns—found significant value in the mid-year pricing event with Halfway Day being their opportunity to refuel for the second half of the year. By including essential grocery, personal care, and beverage deals, we’ve enabled our business customers to restock affordably and pass the savings on to their communities,” adds Stein.
This year, Halfway Day at Jumbo, Browns & Weirs, and participating Cash & Carry stores will take the form of a one-day, in-store only event. Customers can also send a WhatsApp to 072 756 5213 to preview the deals and ensure they don’t miss out.
