Massmart-Walmart's R200m Local Supplier Development Fund

Massmart Holdings Limited has established a R200m Supplier Development Fund to assist developing South African suppliers, in particular, any Small- to Medium-Sized Enterprise (SME), that is either black owned, black empowered or is a local manufacturer of products. The purpose of the fund is to assist our suppliers in enhancing the quality of their products, thereby improving our procurement and supply chain regime.

Supplier Eligibility
Eligibility for fund support will vary between programmes. Basic supplier eligibility includes the following:

• South African domiciled companies;
• Agreement of programme terms and conditions, including under certain programmes, periodic audit of company operations;
• Can be manufacturer or service provider;
• If a funding programme is requested, the applicant must have a reasonable likelihood of success as determined by fund management;
• Priority and preference shall be given to manufactures of products that are environmentally and socially sustainable;
• Supplier operations that have no negative impact on the South Africa economy;
• Encourage positive South African development effects; and
• Creates or maintains employment.
