To ensure that Massmart has a robust and productive workforce, the Group offers a variety of educational training programmes to its employees through the Massmart University. The courses are tailor-made to suit local industry challenges as well as Massmart’s strategic and process requirements.
The university comprises four schools, each with a specific focus and bespoke syllabus designed to meet the development expectations and needs of employees.
- The School of Leadership Development is for Massmart’s senior decision-makers. It exposes leaders to executive development and leadership training and enables the sharing of ideas and experiences through a group leadership forum.
- The School of Retail Excellence offers retail strategy and planning, merchant development, private label management and retail executive learning experiences. The emphasis is on offering practical, relevant and operations focused interventions.
- The School of Management Development is where managers and senior managers are taught to inspire the best efforts from their teams and a human resources academy covers techniques for releasing the potential of our employees.
- Finally, the Centre for Career Development is the home of the Massmart’s alumni programme as well as the graduate development programme. The former is a development programme for employees whilst t the latter provides a career springboard for keen graduates with qualifications in IT, finance, marketing, logistics or business science.
The Massmart Corporate University develops people and incentivises those who are dedicated to life-long learning to stay with the group by offering the chance to improve expertise and broaden understanding. By aligning the learning agenda with Massmart’s business agenda, the Corporate University gives customised retail insight to those who value lifelong learning.
